This little Colt is little only in size. It’s 5.7 amp motor gives you all the power and speed of a big bruiser, with a variable speed of 16,000 to 35,000 rpm. Weighing in at just a hair over 3 pounds, it feels like a feather, so one-handed control is absolutely perfect. Bosch’s soft grip design is intuitive, and whether your hands are big or small, it fits just right, giving you complete control. Don’t worry about torque at startup, either, because the soft-start feature cushions it beautifully. The base has indentations that Bosch calls "finger support pockets," and they really do lend a great deal of control.

The collect accepts standard ¼-inch bits, so you’re virtually unlimited in the bit department, with a surprising maximum diameter of 1-5/16 inches. There’s a spindle lock on the front, so changing the bit out is a simple one-wrench operation. The speed dial is mounted on top of the tool body, and while some would prefer it closer to the grip, we don’t see a problem, since you’re gripping the tool with just one hand anyway.

Depth adjustment is among the easiest we’ve seen on a router. Just turn the motor till the triangle and "unlocked" symbol align, lower the motor to desired position, turn the motor so the triangle lines up with the "locked" symbol and close the clamping lever. If fine adjustment is necessary, it’s a breeze, courtesy of a wheel on the back of the base. Done.

We can think of hundreds of uses for this little workhorse, but those who’ve previously been intimidated by routers will absolutely love it, because it performs like a full-size router, yet it’s a fraction of the size and weight. It would be perfect for rounding-over deck planks and railings, hinge mortising, making decorative edges on hobby wood, and furniture, cutting slots, for use with a dovetail jig, making window cutouts, decorative inlays, trimming laminate and more. Easy to adjust, comes with nice edge guide and has plenty of power. Highly recommended. This tool is worth every penny. Current model has bigger base than older models or PC router which makes it easier to mortise hinges using PC jig.Tool case is large enough to hold some router bits and couple other bases or accessories.

finding the offset base is a pain too. other then that it does what it should. it also has this weird 4" long plastic piece after the first 2" of the cord. it by far has enough horse power to get any job done. because of the long upper body and small base its easy to lift a corner and mess up a cut. the base housing does not come off.

they have a button on the side to stop the arbor from spinning but after time it just doesn't get a positive fit and you will have extreme difficulty getting this pin to engage just so you can change the bit. variable speed. the only thing i don't like is that the base is a little sketchy with your fingers so close to so much power. it makes rolling the cord up tough because it isn't flexible. slow start. This is by far the best trim router i have used to date.

everything you need in a trim router. you can barley fit two wrenches in to change the bit.

My intention was to remove the rotten wood and cut into the 10" hi X 8" thick logs a distance of 1.5 " in order to place 4 2X10 X8ft boards on edge above the fireplace. This small, light weight router was perfect for working overhead and using a 1/4 " bit I was able to get a nice smooth fit of my 2X10's into the logs.Amazon's price was best I found and the free shipping was in the usual 3 business days. I had a log house that had some long term rot between the chimney and house logs. I could remove most wood with a skill saw and chisel but needed a router on the edge and in the corners.

The router is great. I would recommand it.The edge guide and the carrying case are a litle "cheap", flemsy.

Watch carefully if you want a case as some are sold without. Once again I have purchased a refurb power tool and am delighted with it. This router appeared to be new with case, manual, wrenches and Bosch cardboard box, with the benefit of being tested and guaranteed.
